Taylor Swift Cast in Les Miserables Movie

One of the most beloved musicals of all time, Les Miserables, is getting the Hollywood treatment in 2012. Coming to the big screen hopefully by November this year, Hugh Jackman, Russel Crowe, Anne Hathaway, and more industry heavy-hitters are set to star in the film adaptation of the musical. But which recently-casted star is getting all of the attention? Miss Taylor Swift! The country-pop singer is set to play one of the most coveted roles in the history of musicals, the female French peasant Eponine. We know TayTay's got talent — there's no doubt about that — but we have to ask: are her sweet vocals ready to take on a Broadway roll like Eponine? We thought we'd put together three female contenders in pop that we instantly thought of for the role:

Lea Michele

It's an obvious choice, we know, but come on! Lea herself is a huge fan of Broadway and has a voice to match. We can easily see her singing Eponine's famous "On My Own".

Lady Gaga

Another gal who can show off her Broadway chops is Mother Monster herself. Although she might be a little too flamboyant for the role, we could see Gaga taking off her wig, heels and makeup which would make her more vulnerable like Eponine.

Jessie J

Even though Jessie's got a dramatic look (blunt black bob, bright lips, heavy-lined eyes), we can see her tender side through her pure, strong vocals. We've never had word on whether or not Jessie's a Broadway fan, but the power in her voice has plenty of potential to portray Eponine.

Do you agree with our choices?
