With the Internet abuzz over IRL couple John Mayer and Katy Perry's new duet off Mayer's upcoming album Paradise Valley, "Who You Love", we couldn't help but think of other famous pop star couples who recorded songs together over the years. Some pairings last, while others don't, which is why recording a song together is a true test of commitment: it's there forever, like a tattoo. We're listing out our favorite famous duets from 10 to 1, starting off with the tune that started it all...

10. John Mayer — "Who You Love" (ft. Katy Perry)

Oh you can't make yourself stop dreaming of who you're dreaming of / If it's who you love then it's who you love...

The summer of 2012 was the summer of love for John & Katy, who started seeing one another on and off, but seem to be going strong with their breezy, romantic "Who You Love" duet. Who knows? Maybe Perry can be the one who convinces the famous womanizer to stop, well, womanizing...

9. Beyonce — "Crazy In Love" (ft. Jay Z)

Got me looking so crazy right now / Your love's got me looking so crazy right now...

This love story goes all the way back to 2002 when Bey and Jay first realized they were meant for one another. Back in the day, this famous couple used to be extremely private about their relationship, but "Crazy In Love" seemed to be the song that convinced the world they were truly an item. I mean, come on, look at the song title!

8. Jason Derulo — "It Girl (Remix)" (ft. Jordin Sparks)

I could be your it girl / Make you leave the one you're with girl...

"Spark" flew for this adorable twosome in September of 2011, and Jason & Jordin have been making beautiful music together ever since — literally. They recorded the remix of Derulo's hit "It Girl" and changed the lyrics to make this one of the most sweetest duets we feel a little sick to our stomachs.

7. Ciara — "Where You Go" (ft. Future)

It was time when I seen you happy / Where you go?

In December of 2012, Ciara and rapper Future received some pretty great holiday presents: each other! The twosome appear to be very much in love, and even decided to record together, with "Where You Go" on Ciara's latest self-titled album. We wish nothing but the best for the adorable R&B pair!

6. Miranda Lambert — "Over You" (ft. Blake Shelton)

But you went away / How dare you? / I miss you / They say I'll be okay / But I'm not going to ever get over you...

This relationship has a little bit of controversy behind it — Shelton was still married when he met Lambert and feelings developed. Meeting in 2005, Blake still had a big ol' ring on his finger, but divorced his ex-wife and immediately launched into dating Miranda in 2006. Even though the relationship started off shaky, there's no doubt that the pair is talented and know how to make music together!

5. John Mayer — "Half Of My Heart" (ft. Taylor Swift)

Half of my heart's got a right mind / To tell you that I can't keep lovin' you, can't keep lovin' you / Oh, with half of my heart...

Looks like Mayer is making a second appearance on the list! Back in 2009, when "Half Of My Heart" was recorded, it was said that John and Taylor made a romantic connection. It didn't last long, though: after their split, TayTay penned her famous ode to the guitarist, "Dear John", and the two are, famously, history.

4. Jay Z — "'03 Bonnie & Clyde" (ft. Beyonce)

All I need in this life of sin, is me and my girlfriend / Down the ride till the very end, it's me and my boyfriend...

Popping up once again on our list of the best real-life couple duets is Jay Z and Beyonce with their timeless hit that first sparked dating rumors. In "'03 Bonnie & Clyde", the two clearly state that they're boyfriend and girlfriend in the lyrics, but still remained tight-lipped at the time about their IRL coupling.

3. Rihanna — "Nobody's Business" (ft. Chris Brown)

You'll always be mine, sing it to the world / Always be my boy, I'll always be your girl / Nobody's business, ain't nobody's business...

One of pop music's most buzzworthy couples, Rihanna and Chris Brown, have been making headlines since they got together in 2006. The couple came to a screeching halt after the unfortunate domestic abuse incident before the 2009 GRAMMYs, but rekindled their affair after RiRi released her Unapologetic album in 2012. They appear to be over for now, but this confusing-yet-danceable duet between the dramatic pair will remain forever.

2. Johnny Cash & June Carter — "Jackson"

We got married in a fever, hotter than a pepper sprout / We've been talkin' 'bout Jackson, ever since the fire went out...

We're getting classic with this countrified duet, starring one of time's most tested and true pairings, Johnny Cash and June Carter. This duet was prestigious enough to win them a GRAMMY award in 1967, and even though the two of them had a rather tumultuous relationship (have you seen Walk The Line?), they lasted all the way until both their passing in 2003.

1. Sonny & Cher — "I Got You Babe"

They say we're young and we don't know / We won't find out until we grow / Well I don't know if all that's true / 'Cause you got me, and baby I got you...

When you hear the word "famous duets", obviously Sonny & Cher's "I Got You Babe" comes to mind instantly. Meeting in 1962 and tying the knot in 1964, they were young and in love and did things fast, just like the song's lyrics, but will always be regarded as of the most iconic couples in pop culture.
