The MetroLyrics Year-End Awards: Vote For The Most Swoon-Worthy Lyric Of 2012
Welcome to Day 1 of the MetroLyrics Year-End Awards where YOU get to vote and crown one artist the winner of their category! The Awards kick off with the Swoon Worthy Lyric Of The Year Award. The winner of this category will be the song with the most romantic, butterfly-inducing lyrics of the year. Scroll down to vote in the poll.
Now, the nominees:
"Baby you light up my world like nobody else / The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed / But when you smile at the ground it ain't hard to tell / You don't know Oh oh / You don't know you're beautiful"
In the video for this indisputably swoon-worthy song, the 1D guys are all fresh, youthful, smiling, and telling you you're beautiful. How can you not melt at that? The lyrics in "What Makes You Beautiful" seem strategically tailored to apply to just about anyone, which is why they appeal to just about everyone.
Bonus Material: Hear what Niall Horan told us about "What Makes You Beautiful" (and his celebrity crush Demi Lovato) in his exclusive interview with MetroLyrics.
"As long as you love me / We could be starving, we could be homeless, we could be broke"
In this very dramatic song, Justin Bieber shows us what it really means to love somebody. When you really love somebody you don't need frivolous things like food and shelter, no, your LOVE is the food and the shelter. The effect is only slightly dampened by the fact that Justin Bieber will probably never be starving, homeless, or broke...
Bonus Material: See the deeper meaning behind the lyrics when "As Long As You Love Me" gets #deCODED.
"Thinking all love ever does is / Break and burn and end / But on a Wednesday in a cafe I watched it begin again"
Close your eyes and think of the feeling you get when you start liking somebody new. You get butterflies, right? In this romantic (and yes, swoon-worthy) song, Taylor Swift describes this feeling in great detail and uses situations from real life to illustrate just how nice it is when somebody restores your faith in love.
Bonus Material: Read what Taylor Swift had to say about her "Begin Again" lyrics and the real-life situations that inspired the song.
"I've been thinkin' 'bout you / Do you think about me still? / Or do you not think so far ahead? / 'Cause I been thinkin' 'bout forever"
This song is almost guaranteed to give you goosebumps, that's how romantic and painful it is. In "Thinkin' Bout You," Frank Ocean remembers his first love, a love that ended painfully, and possibly unrequited, and a love that he will never forget.

"I have died every day waiting for you / Darlin' don't be afraid / I have loved you for a thousand years / I'll love you for a thousand more..."
With a song that was specifically written for the Twilight: Breaking Dawn film, it's a guarantee that the lyrics are going to be totally, unapologetically romantic — *sigh*. And Christina Perri's "A Thousand Years" became even MORE swoon-worthy when she re-recorded the hit for the Breaking Dawn: Part Two soundtrack with Steve Kazee, making the lyrics sound a lot like Bella and Edward serenading one another longingly...well, if the famous couple could sing, at least.
Bonus Material: We deCODED the Twilight tune to find out what Christina Perri really meant while writing the lyrics...
