i'm jewish..and except for one or two lines this song is as relateable to me as it is to christians..i believe in god..and i think that basically that's what the song is about..

I'm no Christian, but this song still touches my heart. I've heard people argue that this song is mockery towards Christianity, but I disagree. There is no mockery in this beautiful cl****ic. I believe in a God, some bigger force that watches over us and guides us in the right direction when we need him. So when I hear this song, I think about my God naturally due to make lack of faith, but I still find that this song fits. "Nobody callin' on the phone 'Cept for the Pope maybe in Rome." That makes me smile each time! =) Thank you, Joan Osborne, for this beautiful song with your beautiful vocals!
