He revealed: "We obviously weren't that good. We were formulating it all. You wouldn't have thought we were that great.
"You'd have turned us down if you were a record company. And they did - Decca turned us down!"

And he said they had to hone their sound in the early sixties before they were able to attract a following.
He told a UK radio station: "We obviously weren't that good. We were formulating it all. You wouldn't have thought we were that great. You'd have turned us down if you were a record company. And they did - Decca turned us down.”

Paul McCartney's son James has made his live debut with band Light in the UK.
Just 30 people witnessed James' band's live performance, but none of the spectators was aware of who the singer's famous dad is.
Twenty people were left at the end of the 40-minute set at the Jericho Tavern in Oxford.

Paul McCartney is America's favourite Beatle but nearly a quarter of nearly 5,000 surveyed said they didn't like the iconic band. Nearly 30 percent of Americans questioned in the poll selected McCartney, compared to 16 percent who chose the late John Lennon, McCartney's artistic partner.
Ten percent voted for George Harrison and nine percent for Ringo Starr. "It must be the crazy love songs and Yesterday," said John Zogby, CEO of Zogby International which conducted the survey.
"Interestingly, John is the main answer for people who never go to church."

July 16, 2009
Paul McCartney has appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman at the Ed Sullivan Theater - the same stage where The Beatles made their US debut 45 years ago.
When he was asked if being back at the New York venue stirred up any memories, McCartney said he was impressed by the size of the studio.
“When we first came here we'd never seen this kind of thing. TV studios in England were always on one floor - but here it is like an apartment block. The memory of being here is great.”
McCartney revealed one scary moment, which was when a floor manager reminded him how many viewers would be watching him perform a solo song.
“I had to do my so .....

June 11, 2009
Paul McCartney refuses to let the feud with his ex-record label EMI lie.
The former Beatle left the record company in 2007 after more than 45 years, claiming it had become "boring".
The Sun has reported that he has snubbed them again by giving the rights to repackage and release his prized back catalogue of solo material to small independent label One Little India.
A source told The Sun: "Paul has been unimpressed with EMI for quite some time now. He's really enjoyed working with One Little India on his Fireman project, so didn't think twice about giving them the responsibility of handling his solo catalogue too."
