Queen stars Brian May and Roger Taylor appeared on UK talent show The X Factor to witness the contestants singing a rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody.


The two legends were mentoring the show's remaining contestants ahead of the live show on November 14, where the contestants each sang a Queen hit.


A source said: "Simon personally requested Brian and Roger get involved in the show and they were happy to do it.


"They know all there is to know about showing off on stage and creating a buzz."

The Queen 'to spend £9m on new plane'



The Queen is reportedly planning to spend £9m on a new plane for official business.


The 83-year-old monarch is said to be making plans to buy the aircraft before March next year.


It will be the first time she has had her own plane. It is claimed royals have had to share aircrafts with senior politicians and members of the military, and have often had to charter flights for their official journeys.


A royal source said: "Although there will be a large outlay in the short term, in the longer term the new aircraft will save a substantial amount of taxpayers' money."

The British Queen reportedly had a "low key" celebration for her 83rd birthday as the credit crunch takes hold.


The elderly monarch reportedly shunned a lavish banquet at Buckingham Palace for a smaller dinner at her son Prince Edward's house, Bagshot Park, in Surrey, UK.


A Royal source said: "The Queen was determined to keep this very low key by Royal standards. There were just 18 in total, and several didn't even drink."


It is claimed the dinner included chicken breast stuffed with red peppers, followed by a creme brulee.
