    i love this song. for me, i think this is the most rememveral song of nirvana. it just so wierd that he got the name after his girlfriend spraypainted on the wall"kurt smells like teen spirit" which teen spirit was a famous deodrant back than.but anyways, the best of nirvanas songs.

    FROM WIKIPEDIA:
    Cobain has said, "The entire song is made up of contradictory ideas [. . .] It's just making fun of the thought of having a revolution. But it's a nice thought."

    Drummer Dave Grohl has stated he does not believe the song has any message, and said, "Just seeing Kurt write the lyrics to a song five minutes before he first sings them, you just kind of find it a little bit hard to believe that the song has a lot to say about something. You need syllables to fill up this space or you need something that rhymes."

    Cross argues that the song is a reference to Cobain's relationship with ex-girlfriend Tobi Vail. Cross cites the line "She's over-bored and self-****ured" and states the song "could not have been about anyone else."

    So IMO the song is a mix of themes and ideas thar were on Kurt's mind at the time of writing the song (meaningless teen revolution, relationship with gf, sex, the concept of a group of friends hanging around and getting high) plus some words he used cause they rhymed and fitted(albino, mosquito, libido...) topped with a couple of brilliant semantic exercises like "I'm worts at what I do best" and "I found it hard, is hard to find" wich I'm sure he included just cause they looked cool (ok, and fitting :P)..

    Mya favourite line is "O well, whatever, Nevermind.." from wich he clearly took that album name from and and could also be used as his epitaph :/ (and also can be referred as his relationship with his gf,to the idea of a revolution, the fact of having to write the lyrics..at the end he is like "yeah, w/e, fo all i'm out of here.." :S)

    If you were ever high and hung out with friends then the meaning of the song is so so clear. They couldnt use "load up on pot", seriously DEODRANT? LOL

    ok let s face it it s now a cl****ic song~! i really like it but as far as i am concerned i think there are loads of better songs than this by nirvana... i believe it s kinda overrated. i like it of course but there are others too...

    this is SUCH an amazing song! that "turn the lights out" line---i always thought it reffered to sex, but race makes more sense.... interesting
