Spaceman Lyrics

The Killers

It started with a low light Next thing I knew they ripped me from my bed And then they took my blood type It left a strange impression in my head
You know that I was hoping That I could leave this star-crossed world behind But when they cut me open I guess that changed my mind
And you know I might Have just flown too far from the floor this time 'Cause they calling me by my name
And they're zipping white light beams Disregarding bombs and satellites And that was the turning point That was one lonely night
The song maker says, "It ain't so bad" The dream maker's gonna make you mad The spaceman says, "Everybody look down" It's all in your mind
Well, now I'm back at home and I'm looking forward to this life I live You know it's gonna haunt me So hesitation to this life I give
You think you might cross over You're caught between the devil and the deep blue sea You better look it over Before you make that leap
And you know I'm fine But I hear those voices at night Sometimes they justify my claim
And the public don't dwell on my transmission 'Cause it wasn't televised But it was the turning point Oh what a lonely night
The song maker says, "It ain't so bad" The dream maker's gonna make you mad The spaceman says, "Everybody look down" It's all in your mind
The song maker says, "It ain't so bad" The dream maker's gonna make you mad The spaceman says, "Everybody look down" It's all in your mind
My global position systems are vocally addressed They say the Nile used to run from east to west They say the Nile used to run from east to west I'm fine but I hear those voices at night sometimes
It's all in my mind It's all in my mind

Tell Us What These Lyrics Mean To You...

Its not about a d-r-u-g addict, its about a guy who is tries to commit suicide but as he is dying instead of heaven he meets aliens who show him things about reality and the universe and he thinks its great until they start experimenting on him (cut him open) then he changes his mind and wants to come home. When he does, he is obviously affected and the doctors try to convince him it is all in his mind and he needs psychiatric help. No one listens because these days we only listen if its on TV. He tries to convince others not to do what he tried to do. He still hears the voices in his head telling him to kill himself. It is obvious that the subject is mentally ill and up to us to decide whether it was all in his mind, his delusional state or did it really happen, which is the dilemma all alien abductees face. The mention of their technology (white light beams) that dont care about our bombs or monitoring satellites points to an advanced civilisation. One interesting part of the lyrics is the reference to the Nile running from east to west when we know it runs north south. Edgar Cayce the psychic who predicted a lot of Pyramid related things made the prophecy that the Nile did run from East to West in pre-history pointing to a Pole shift of the earth sometime in the distant past. It is only with recent technology, GPS etc. that we know that it did indeed run East West. Putting this in the song points to the beliefs of the song writer, he is linking near death experience, alien abduction, the pyramid mysteries and other geological anomalies that don't fit with historical records. In short he may believe that there is an afterlife but it is not what any of us believe and possibly more along the lines of The Matrix story that traditional "heaven". Or it is just about a guy who is mentally ill and tried to kill himself and believes aliens are responsible.

It's Star maker- not song maker. It's about the alien abductions and the govt cover-ups and how we were visited ages ago at the beginning of our human existance

You are quite right my friend. Virtually every line of this song can be connected to the abduction phenomenom/reality. Maybe B Flowers is trying to admit something. You are awake!

I think its about questioning popular belief in things hardly known, the spaceman forces him to take in reality over his general perception of what he believes... when he returns (to earth) he tries to move the public in his new view, yet it did not gain m**** media attention and so he is reminded at night threw the voices of other people's claims, this justifies his point of view as he tries to make since of it all.

why did it censor "m****"!?
