I don't know why everyone thinks its all about the tragedies of war there's more to it below the surface. I know how the mind of creative genuses and lunatics work and I know that all the clues are in the details, the subtle slides to imperfection and how nothing matters unless you have this one thing this one thing you can't live without, this one thing that will destroy you if you can't have it. People this song revolves around this one thing and it doesn't matter what if is. You all are probably thinking it's love but you have to think outside the box to get this song or all of coldplays songs for that matter.

I love this song... I got the shivers when I realized the meaning, before I liked the tune. I think the entire album 'viva la vida' is about the tragedy of war. I think this song is about a boy and a girl who were friends as kids and played on a swing and one of them died in a war.

Just for future reference, a "strawberry swing" is a phrase used to denote complete and utter happiness or bliss shared with someone you love- presumably because it takes more than one person to operate a swing. =] Hope that helps.

Hi Trabanciara. If no one has yet replied to your meaning of "swing" question, I can. A swing is something to play on at a park. It is made of steel about double a person's height. A child or adult can sit in the bar suspended from the top by chains, and enjoy going back and forth with the help of gravity. The sitting person can be pushed or use their own legs to play.
