Days like this, I don't know what to do with myself
All day, and all night
I wander the halls along the walls
And under my breath, I say to myself,
"I need fuel to take flight"
And there's too much going on
But it's calm under the waves
In the blue of my oblivion
Under the waves in the blue of my oblivion
Is that why they call me a sullen girl, sullen girl?

They don't I used to sail the deep and tranquil seas
But he washed me ashore
And he took my pearl
And left an empty
Shell of me
And there's too much going on
But it's calm under the waves
In the blue of my oblivion
Under the waves in the blue of my oblivion
Under the waves in the blue of my oblivion
It's calm under the waves
In the blue of my oblivion

This is an absolutely beautiful song. I love the way the piano floats along in the beginning and through the backround and all to the end. I have the sheet music for all the songs on Tidal, and I think I might look at trying to learn this song next. It's a really expressive piece. I love the chorus; the lyrics and melody there are simple, but I just think it's beautiful. They're the kind of lyrics I'd want to quote: ** And there's too much going on But it's calm under the waves In the blue of my oblivion Under the waves in the blue of my oblivion ** This song has so much backround and significance. If you read up about her, you'll see what part of Fiona's motivation for this song was--if you didn't already know. I read a great article that covered this and much, much more--mostly one big interview with Fiona. I thought it was really sweet. Some people would find her disturbing. Some people might find her freaky. Some people might just find her very odd. And you know, it's probably all true to an extent--but I, for one, feel in good company; I'm not the only messed-up person in this world, and I don't have to feel alone. What's more, I can have my problems, and I can succeed. That's what I've learned from Fiona Apple. If you're interested and haven't already read this, I suggest you do; I liked it so much that I copy + pasted it to a Word document and saved it. If I could insert the web address, I would, but this site won't allow it. So just Google it; it's a Rolling Stone article, and it's called "Fiona Apple: The Caged Bird Sings." I'm done being off-topic, now. Sorry 'bout that, but I had to share! Wonderfully written, beautiful song... I highly encourage you find this and listen to it if you haven't heard it already.
