We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much baby
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?
We can't go on together
With suspicious minds
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds
So, if an old friend I know
Drops by to say hello
Would I still see suspicion in your eyes?
Here we go again
Asking where I've been
You can't see these tears are real
I'm crying
We can't go on together
With suspicious minds
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds
Oh let our love survive
Or dry the tears from your eyes
Let's don't let a good thing die
When honey, you know
I've never lied to you
Mmm yeah, yeah
We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much baby
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?
We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much baby
Don't you know I'm caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much baby
Don't you know I'm caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much baby
Don't you know I'm caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much baby

I Believe this song describes the relationship shared between Elvis and Priscilla Presley. Priscilla had insecurity(ies) which were expressed through the characteristics of green eyed monster; also known as jealousy insecuritty,, possessiveness and control. When Elvis pledged marital committment to Priscilla, it was done with 100% of his heart , filled with love for only her. I bellieve Priscilla did not like the MEGA STAR and did not like how at least 95 to 99.9% of the world's population admired Elvis' stage performance, songs sung, kind and caring heart, Christian beliefs, vocal range and tones, the way he looked in the clothes he had worn, his physical appearance; and phiysical presence which would captivate the eyes, attention and respect of all, no matter where Elvis might have been at the time. Priscilla wanted some of the glory and limelight of the fame, attention and financial rewards directed towards her, instead of always remaing unrecognized and living within Elvis' shadow. The songs Elvis sang, were songs he could relate to and expressed through vocal abilities of life experiences lived and heartfelt emotions experienced each day of Elvis' ife.. Even though Elvis could provide and/or did supply Priscilla with everything Priscilla could have ever wanted or needed, she still was not happy, which ended up bringing their marriage to a defeated and impossible to avoid end. Basically the perceived image of Prisciilla Presley, figuratively speaking, would be a hen pecking wife; who was always complaining, never happy and the continuous nagging would push the (husband) into a state of depression, suicidal thoughts and/or defeatist attitude. Going by the lyrics of the song and the feelings expressed, empatheticly and/or figuratively, through the song; is why I stated the belief I have expressed. Elvis Presley - The King of Rock - N - Roll ! Oh Yeah.
