It's empty in the valley of your heart
The sun, it rises slowly as you walk
Away from all the fears and all the faults
You've left behind
The harvest left no food for you to eat
You cannibal, you meat-eater, you see
But I have seen the same
I know the shame in your defeat
But I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck
And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again
'Cause I have other things to fill my time
You take what is yours and I'll take mine
Now let me at the truth
Which will refresh my broken mind
So tie me to a post and block my ears
I can see widows and orphans through my tears
I know my call despite my faults
And despite my growing fears
But I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck
And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again
So come out of your cave walking on your hands
And see the world hanging upside down
You can understand dependence
When you know the maker's land
So make your siren's call
And sing all you want
I will not hear what you have to say
'Cause I need freedom now
And I need to know how
To live my life as it's meant to be
And I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck
And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again

Oh, and the oddysey? Well, ok, so the sirens bit references it, but really in the context of the story of Francis's eschewing of power, money, pleasures, etc (his "sirens" calling)

It comes straight from GK Chesterton's "St. Francis of Assisi", chapter 5 to be exact. They're big fans of gkc. Yes, that's right, the songs about St Francis. Not Plato's allegory of the cave or any of the other suggestions I've seen. Think I'm crazy? Read the chapter. It's right there. Props Marcus, props.

No doubt, not only in sentiment but quite literally like you said from chapter 5. At parts word for word.

also to "Harbor", its WIDOWS and orphans, like people who's spouses have died and people who's parents have died. not windows.
i heard this song is about the oddysey by homer, i read that book several years ago for school and i don't remember it that well so i can't give my opinion on whether i think thats true or not

It's "I can see with those endorphins through my tears" not windows and orphans..
heathi51
no, its not. that makes zero sense. do you know what endorphins are? theyre neuro-transmitting cells in your brain that make you happy. you cannot see with them, not even in a metaphor- it just doesnt make sense. if you watch the video you can see their lips clearly say the words widows and orphans
