This Is Country Music Lyrics

Brad Paisley

You're not supposed to say The word cancer in a song And tellin' folks Jesus is the answer Can rub 'em wrong
It ain't hip to sing about tractors, trucks Little towns and mama Yeah that might be true But this is country music and we do
Well, you like to drink a cold one On the weekend and get a little loud Do you wanna say I'm sorry or I love ya But you don't know how?
Do you wish somebody had the nerve To tell that stupid boss of yours To shove it next time he yells at you? Well, this is country music, and we do
So turn it on, turn it up and sing along This is real, this is your life in a song Yeah this is country music
Are you haunted by the echo of your mother On the phone? Cryin' as she tells you that Your brother is not coming home?
And if there's anyone that still Has pride and the memory of those That died defending the old red, white and blue This is country music and we do
So turn it on, turn it up and sing along This is real, this is your life in a song Just like a road that takes you home Yeah this is right where you belong
This is country music This is country music
You Stopped Loving Her Today (This is country music) Hello Dolly (This is country music) God Bless the USA (This is country music)
Amarillo by the Morning (This is country music) Stand by Your Man (This is country music)
Take Me Home Country Roads (This is country music) I Walk the Line (This is country music) Country Boy Can Survive

Tell Us What These Lyrics Mean To You...

I so agree with this song. LIfe isn't about partying and getting drunk. It's about the things that matter. Like, friends, family, and just straight up life. Whether it's good or bad you can sing about it.I love the line in this song "Are you haunted by the echo of your mother on the phone? Cryin' as she tells you your brother is not comming home?" Those lyrics just hit me. It made me really think. This song is not about upholding country music. It's about upholding America and our beliefs. If we didn't have country music what would we do? Would we still sing songs by Lady Gaga and Ke$ha? It's music about everyone's lives not just about the ones who want to party. This is a song for everyone.

This song is so true. Too many people these days are under the impression that country music is all about beer and trucks, when really, it's all about real life - family, God, love, heartache, America, friendship, etc. - things that really matter (unlike most of today's popular music like Ke$ha and Lady Gaga, which is all about sex and partying). And that's why country music is the best music ever; it's a truly amazing, powerful, and meaningful music genre and it always will be. More people should give it a chance; they'll see that all of the bad things they've ever heard about country music is completely wrong.

I LOVE THIS SONG! What an outstanding tribute to a great genre of music and an even greater country. Go Brad!
