Tim McGraw Biography

Brought up in Louisiana, Tim McGraw, born in the month of May, 1967, is a very popular singer of country hits. He is Frank McGraw’s (Tug) son, who is a retired relief baseball pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Mets. “Live Like You Were Dying,” and “Can’t Be Really Gone” are some of his notable songs. He also has three children, and is the husband of Faith Hill, also a recording artist.

Tim McGraw started his career in singing as a demo singer in his town’s local clubs. He signed his first contract in 1990 under the Curb Records label. McGraw, however, experienced his song being included in the music charts only after two years (1992), with the song:”Welcome to the Club.” The following year, his songs: “Two Steppin’ Mind” and “Memory Lane”, which were both from his debut album, became minor hits. McGraw also joined the “Honky Tonk Attitude” tour together with Joe Diffie in that same year, 1993.

McGraw started to have a more successful career when his single “Indian Outlaw,” from his second album “Not A Moment Too Soon,” written by John Loudermilk, was released in 1994. “Indian Outlaw” caused a great deal of controversy because some people believed it was degrading to American Indians. The controversy, however, helped McGraw so much that it became number 1 among all the country songs, and even held a place in the pop Top 20. The rhythmic melodies of the song as well as the war dance incorporated into it also helped increase sales. The album where “Indian Outlaw” belonged in also became number 1 at the Billboard charts for the Country music category. The total sales of the album reached four million, and stayed in the Top 5 for more than one year.

What followed “Not A Moment Too Soon,” McGraw’s third album entitled “All I Want” also gained huge sales, with the single “I Like It, I Love It,” topping the charts. The year 1996 continued to be proof of his success as an artist as “She Never Lets It Go To Her Heart” hit the 1st spot for country music all over the US. The next year, (1997), McGraw’s “Everywhere” was proclaimed number 2 on the top 200 on the Billboard chart. McGraw also received a CMA Award for the title Vocal Event of the Year---thanks to his song “It’s Your Love.” In May 1999, his album called: “A Place in the Sun” topped the charts, with his single: “Please Remember Me” breaking into the pop Top 10 in the US. Many people feel that Tim McGraw is the next Garth Brooks, and even though some may think of his records as not that unique, McGraw still has no plans of turning away from country music.
