Organisers of a U2 concert held to mark the fall of the Berlin Wall met the outrage of fans when they put up another kind of wall to block the view of those who had not paid for tickets.

The fans who flocked to the free concert held 20 years since the historic wall fell 20 years ago had a 12-foot metal barrier put in their way.

Louis-Pierre Boily, 23, said: "It's completely ridiculous that they are blocking the view. I thought it's a free show, but MTV probably wants people to watch it on TV to get their ratings up."

Some fans tried to rip down a tarpaulin that was put over the barrier to block several hundred people who gathered at the site. The concert was held o .....

Rock band U2's next gig is in crisis after residents living near the venue protested against the noise.

It is claimed a group of residents blocked staff vans moving the band's stage and gear after they were fed up with the noise.

The band had played three gigs at Croke Park Stadium in Dublin, but the residents reportedly had enough after the noise of moving the equipment in the early hours got too much.

However, a deal was made with the protesters who eventually let the vans move on to Gothenburg in Sweden to prepare for the gigs on August 1 and 2. But organisers are worried it will not be set up in time for the gigs.

Rock legend The Edge has revealed that he once came to blows with Bono - over a drum kit.

He said: "It was one of those early gigs where you really feel your life depends on it being a great gig.

"Half way through the show, Larry's drum kit falls apart and he literally has a set of spanners out trying to fix it.

"Bono didn't see what was going on, so all he knew was that Larry had stopped playing and he just lost it."

Bono added: "I looked down and there was no drummer.

"So I lifted the drum kit to have a look at what was going on and a proper little row broke out and then the Edge just caught me with one... he hit me very hard."

U2 star Bono was reportedly almost brought to tears after seeing the stage for his new 360-degree Tour in Barcelona.

The 49-year-old frontman wanted a stage in the middle of the stadium so the audience could feel more part of the show.

He said to fans: "Thank you for making our dream come true."

He added: "It's an idea we've been working on for about eight years, much to the scepticism of my bandmates and most people in the industry who said it wasn't possible to play like this in the round.

"But I talked about it all through the Vertigo Tour, and eventually they told me that maybe I was not insane."

He added: "If people are interested in magic, th .....
