    I concur, great lyrics.
    However there is a reference to the line: "The ebb-and-dart..." in Wikipedia that says it should read "The egg-and-dart...". See Wikipedia "Egg-and-dart"
    Could be Don Henley only alluded to the term but not wrote it explicitly.
